Well known for the cultivated land with pistachio crops, this “Summer Destination“ offers a perfect Mediterranean climate in spring; Summer and fall reaching 28 - 36 Celsius degrees in August (82,4 - 96,8 Fahrenheit degrees).

As an interesting note, the first silver coin in Greece depicting a sea turtle was discovered on this island. According to the legends, Pheidon, Argos’s king was the first one who minted coins in the VIIth century BC. The Greek historian Ephoros (about 400 - 330BC) is one of those who consider Pheidon as the first ever who coined the money, same thing being mentioned also in the Parium Chronicle. One thing is certain, sea turtle coins are the first silver coins ever to be issued in Greece.
